Roots Community School Spring 2018 Update!

Spring Update Roots Community School

Roots students started Spring off with a bang as they took on Invent Washington on Saturday, March 24th in Spokane with inventions they had been working on for a good part of the year.Invent Washington is an organization that promotes the idea that ALL children have the opportunity to become an inventor and entrepreneur and to let their passions guide them on this journey.7 out of 16 Roots students that entered placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd for their inventions! They were joined by 200 other students from all over the region. Each student was asked to think of a problem, create a solution, keep a log book of thought processes, build a prototype for their invention and create a display showcasing their work.A huge congratulations to all the students for their passionate dedication to this project, and big thanks to teachers, parents, and helpers - this was such an inspiring event and a day that will never be forgotten!

We have something to look forward to on the horizon!Roots students are working with the lovely Cherylann Crego on a play - Frog and Toad.Kids have auditioned for their parts and have started rehearsals. The benefits to be gained during the preparation for this performance are countless but include; developing confidence, overcoming anxieties, learning memorizing skills, improving language and musical skills, problem-solving, creativity expansion, and increased social interaction and cooperation. We look forward to this event with great anticipation!Look forward to a matinee and evening performance on May 23rd and on May 24th an evening performance.More details to come!
