The application process at Roots is tailored to ensure a healthy relationship will develop between student, parent and classroom and is a good fit for everyone involved. One of the first requirements for the applicant involves a classroom visit for half a day. The purpose of this visit is for you and your child to get a feel for the Roots’ environment. You are welcome to come with your child, but it’s not required. Next we require a meeting between parent and head teacher. This discussion provides an opportunity for both instructor and parent to get to know one another and to ask questions. An application can be picked up at this time, downloaded from the website or mailed to you. Once the application along with the $80 non-refundable application fee are submitted and the classroom visit and parent/teacher meeting have taken place, the school will let you know if your child is ready for enrollment. A $500 non-refundable deposit will hold your child’s place at Roots. This fee goes towards the 2019-2020 1st-6th grade tuition rate of $6000 and kindergarten at $5700. Tuition can be paid in full at any time or in 11 monthly installments starting August 1. The $300 supply fee is also due August 1. For more information please call 509-888-2906.
A Private Foundation is generously making available two $2500 scholarships for students attending Roots Community School in 2018. One Scholarship is designated for a K-2 student, the other is open to all students but preference will be given to a K-2 student. These scholarships will be based primarily on financial need, but also chosen based on essays submitted from families. If you believe your resources are not sufficient to meet the total costs of your student’s education at Roots Community School, you are encouraged to apply. Click here for more information!
Roots also offers scholarships to all families who have more than one child attending. Call us to find out more information about this program.
